Splendide WFL1300XD Stackable Washer for RVs – Honest Review After 3.5 Years

When we bought our Thor Challenger 37YT, the large bathroom was one of its biggest selling points. Double vanities, ample storage, and just enough space to add a washer and dryer down the line.

After 6-plus years of full-time RV living, one of the best decisions we made was ditching laundromats and installing our own laundry setup. We opted for the Splendide WFL1300XD washer paired with the DV6400X dryer, and they’ve been rock-solid.

Why We Chose to Add a Washer to Our RV

Laundromats are unpredictable. We’ve dealt with overpriced machines, bleach residue, sleeping bags in dryers (don’t ask), and hours wasted just waiting. Depending on our location, a single load of laundry can cost up to $6, and we were spending $100–$120/month, sometimes more.

After our 2021 Workamping job in Yellowstone, we decided to use our bathroom closet for something more useful: laundry freedom.

Washer and Dryer Combo vs. Stackable Units

We seriously considered an all-in-one washer/dryer combo, but after plenty of research, we decided separate units were better for us.

Here’s why:

  • Vented dryers dry better and faster
  • Separate units run simultaneously
  • Higher performance, especially for full-time use

If you’ve got the space, a stackable setup is the way to go — no regrets here.

3.5 Years of Full-Time Use – Our Review

The Splendide WFL1300XD has been everything we hoped for: compact, powerful, quiet, and efficient

We typically run our clothes on the “Colors” cycle, which shows 1 hour 21 minutes but consistently finishes closer to 1 hour 13. Clothes come out barely damp, saving a ton of drying time.

What We Love:

  • Super quiet operation
  • High-speed spin (1200 RPM) removes excess moisture
  • Compact size, perfect for RV closets
  • Built for the road — handles bumps and vibrations well
  • Auto-dispense for detergent, bleach, and softener

Yes, the spin cycle can shake the RV for a little bit when it ramps up, but once it gets going, it’s smooth sailing.

Installation Notes

We had the washer and dryer professionally installed at Camping World in Denton, Texas. The total cost was just over $2800 with install, but it has absolutely paid for itself — and then some.

If you’re considering DIY, it’s totally doable with the right tools and time. We opted for professional installation due to being on the road, but we’ve met plenty of RVers who tackled it themselves and saved several hundred bucks.

Pro Tip: No Room for a Laundry Basket?

Here’s a hack that’s worked great for us — just toss your dirty clothes directly into the washer throughout the week. When it’s full, run a load. It keeps the space tidy and makes the best use of the limited room.

Final Thoughts – Is the Splendide WFL1300XD Worth It?

Absolutely. This washer is one of our top full-time RV upgrades. It’s efficient, reliable, and built for the RV lifestyle. Combined with the DV6400X dryer, it’s a setup that rivals many residential machines.

If you’re still hauling your laundry bag to the campground facilities or scoping out laundromats in strange towns, you might be ready for the same kind of freedom we found.

Would We Buy It Again?

Yes. In fact, if we upgraded to a new rig tomorrow, the Splendide WFL1300XD would be the first thing we’d install. After 3.5 years, it still runs like new, handles our full-time laundry needs, and saves us time, money, and frustration every week.

  1. I have the same machine, installed when we bought our new KZ one year ago. After the 2nd or 3rd load we noticed water on the floor. Out of convenience, we waited until now to have a service tech come out. He found that the drum was cracked and had to have the unit replaced. The replacement was covered under our service contract but we still have to pay $342 out of pocket. Disappointed but hopeful that we just got a lemon the first time.

  2. I bought the washer and dryer. Washing machine is a huge disappointment. Less than 2 years old and the cold water valve is leaking. I called for warranty service only to learn the warranty does not cover any seals or plastic parts including the hot and cold water valves. The set was installed by the dealer and I was never informed that the company does not stand behind its product. I will make sure I post the review any place someone may be considering buying this product. I don’t mind so much that the valve started leaking, sometimes parts just break. I spoke with a manager and he just said well it states in the warranty we do not cover this. I asked him how you sell any washing machine and not warranty the valves? I would have been fine if they just sent me the replacement part but I had to pay for that AND the shipping. My washing machine is the same model. The washing machine worked ok. We did less than 10 loads in it before it started leaking.

    • Hello Jeff, I’m sorry to hear that you had issues with your washer. While it is understandable that you are frustrated with your experience, from what I see in the reviews of the Splendide WFL1300XD is 4.2 stars on Amazon and 4.4 stars on Camping World. Anyone can end up with a machine that doesn’t meet their expectations especially if it’s something leaking on a washer. It may not be a machine issue if a valve is leaking, it could very well be an installation issue. I have ran into a handful of examples over the last few years of poor workmanship at dealers. If someone overtightened the valve, either slightly cracking it or causing the leak itself I can see why Splendide wouldn’t warrant the item. We have had our washing machine for nearly 2 years and as full-time RVers we use it nearly every day. So far we couldn’t be happier with our washer and dryer. Sorry again you had issue with yours. From what I have seen that seems to be an exception to what others find with the Splendide WFL1300XD Washer.
