Prep the Ingredients
Thinly slice the top sirloin steak into approximately 1/8-inch strips, cutting across the grain on a bias. Cut the broccoli into florets, halve the cherry tomatoes, and mince the garlic.Marinate the Beef
Place the sliced beef in a bowl or resealable bag. Add the cornstarch, soy sauce, minced garlic, and crushed red pepper flakes. Toss until the beef is evenly coated.Allow the beef to marinate while you prepare the remaining ingredients.Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the hoisin sauce, beef broth, water, and sesame oil. Mix well and set aside.Cook the Spaghetti
Cook the spaghetti according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.Cook the Beef
Heat the canola or olive oil in a large skillet or electric skillet.Add the marinated beef and spread it across the cooking surface. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.Cook the Broccoli
Add the broccoli to the skillet and cook until it begins to become tender but still has some bite. Avoid overcooking it, since the broccoli will continue cooking after the sauce is added.Add the Sauce
Pour the prepared hoisin sauce mixture over the broccoli. Stir to coat and continue cooking until the sauce is hot and begins to thicken.Finish the Lo Mein
Return the cooked beef to the skillet and add the halved cherry tomatoes. Stir until everything is coated with the sauce and heated through.Add the cooked spaghetti and toss everything together until the noodles are evenly coated with sauce and the beef, broccoli, and tomatoes are distributed throughout.Heat just until everything is warmed through, then serve.
Notes
We often double this recipe so we have plenty of leftovers. If you're making a double batch, use a large skillet or pan with enough room to combine everything once the spaghetti is added.
Our recipe already has a little heat from the crushed red pepper flakes. If you like more of a kick, simply increase the amount to suit your taste.
