The NAS Corpus Christi FamCamp is a well-maintained, affordable RV park situated directly on Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas. The campground sits on a peninsula surrounded by Corpus Christi Bay, Oso Bay, and the Laguna Madre — the FamCamp offers spacious sites, waterfront views, and access to base amenities, all at about half the price of comparable RV parks in town.
NAS Corpus Christi has been home to naval pilot training since 1941. Today, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and foreign student pilots earn their wings in the four squadrons of Training Air Wing FOUR, using NAS’ Truax Field and outlying airfields. The base is also home to the Corpus Christi Army Depot, the primary aviation depot maintenance facility for DoD rotary-wing aircraft, plus dozens of tenant organizations. Staying at the FamCamp puts you right in the middle of this active, historic installation.

Compared to private RV parks in Corpus Christi, the FamCamp runs about half the cost, which is outstanding considering the waterfront setting and free laundry.

All sites are back-in, level, and a mix of concrete, gravel, and grass.
- Section A: Grass RV pads with generous spacing between sites.
- Section B (our stay): Concrete pads with plenty of room between sites. Our motorhome faced the bay directly, so we enjoyed sunrise views out the windshield and even saw dolphins cruising past our front window.

Our Review
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the NAS Corpus Christi FamCamp. The combination of waterfront views, affordable rates, and access to base facilities makes it one of the best military RV values we’ve found. In fact, we found the price to stay here was about half of what you’d pay at RV parks out in town — a huge savings, especially for longer stays.
The free laundry was another unexpected perk, saving both money and hassle compared to most campgrounds. Both Section A and Section B offered generous spacing between sites, making it easy to set up comfortably without feeling crowded. Our favorite part was our bayfront site in Section B — with the water right out our front window, we enjoyed incredible sunrises and even spotted dolphins swimming by. That’s the kind of experience that sticks with you.
Add in the unbeatable location for exploring Corpus Christi, Padre Island, Mustang Island, and Port Aransas, and this FamCamp quickly rose to the top of our list for South Texas camping. If you have base access, it’s a must-stay stop along the Gulf Coast.
Final Thoughts
The NAS Corpus Christi FamCamp nails the trifecta of affordability, convenience, and scenery. Section B’s spacing and water views were excellent, and the dolphin sightings from our front window were the highlight of our stay. Factor in free laundry and base amenities, and it’s easy to see why this FamCamp is a repeat favorite.
