Replacing RV LED Ceiling Lights

We’ve been fairly happy with our 2019 Thor Challenger 37YT Class A Motorhome. Over the three-plus years we’ve owned it, it’s been, for the most part, reliable. But when one of the hall lights suddenly dimmed for no reason, it caught us off guard.

The good news? Replacing RV LED ceiling lights is a quick and easy job that almost anyone can do—even with just a little mechanical ability.

Finding the Right RV Ceiling Light

Honestly, it took me longer to track down the correct replacement light than it did to actually install it.

My first step was contacting Thor Customer Support. They told me they couldn’t give me a direct answer without knowing which fixture I meant, since different lights were used throughout the coach. After some back-and-forth, they finally confirmed that the hallway fixture was a 4” LED Ceiling Light, Part # 0312136, priced at $15.26 each plus $15.00 shipping.

That price seemed outrageous for a small ceiling light. To make matters worse, I couldn’t find the light anywhere online using the Thor part number.

So, I popped off the cover and noticed PROMEMS Rev 3 printed on the circuit board. A quick Google search brought me to an identical match. Amazon had it for $10.95 with free shipping.

I ordered one to test, and it turned out to be the exact replacement. Once confirmed, I bought a five-pack for future spares—a good move since I’ve already had to replace another one.

Tools and Supplies You’ll Need

This job doesn’t require much, but here’s what helps:

  • Replacement LED ceiling light (match your style/size)
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Wire strippers (optional, in case of stubborn wire nuts)
  • A few extra wire nuts (always handy to have around)

Step-by-Step: How to Replace an RV LED Ceiling Light

  1. Remove the cover
Gently pop off the light cover to expose the screws.
  2. Unscrew the fixture
Remove the three screws holding the light to the ceiling
  3. Disconnect the wires
Twist off (un-crimp) the wire nuts and separate the old fixture from the coach wiring.
  4. Install the new light
Match the wires (black to black, white to white), twist on the wire nuts, tuck them back neatly, and screw the fixture into place.
  5. Reattach the cover
Snap the cover back on, flip the switch, and enjoy your bright new light.

    That’s it—super simple!
Gently pop off the cover and remove the screws
Disconnect the wires and install new light
Snap the cover back on, and you’re back in business

Why Keep Spare RV Lights On Hand?

If one light has gone out or dimmed, chances are others will follow. Heat, vibration, and age all take their toll on RV LED lights. Having a few spares on hand means you won’t have to scramble to find replacements while on the road.

I keep a small box of RV-specific spare parts like lights, fuses, and plumbing fittings. It’s saved us more than once when camping miles away from the nearest hardware store.
