RV Shower Faucet Upgrade – From Flimsy Plastic to a Stylish All-Metal Faucet

This simple RV shower faucet upgrade made a bigger impact than we expected. After more than six years of full-time RVing, one thing became very clear: the factory-installed plastic shower faucet and head that came with our motorhome just weren’t cutting it. It looked cheap, felt flimsy, and worst of all, it didn’t work well with our tankless water heater. For the last couple of years, we’ve talked about replacing it, and we finally did — and wow, what a difference.

We swapped our old single-handle plastic faucet for the G-Sunny All-Metal RV Shower Faucet Replacement Valve Diverter (Brushed Nickel), and it has completely transformed our shower experience. The G-Sunny faucet is also available in chrome and matte black, so you can match it to your RV’s style or existing fixtures.

Why Replace Your RV Shower Faucet?

Common Problems with Factory Plastic Faucets

Most RVs come with basic plastic shower faucets. They get the job done, but they often feel cheap, don’t last long, and can be difficult to control. Our factory faucet felt flimsy from the beginning and seemed like it could snap with just a little extra pressure.

How Tankless Water Heaters Make It Worse

Because we run a tankless water heater, the problem was even worse. The plastic valve made it nearly impossible to find a steady temperature, so we usually had to run the hot water on full just to avoid fluctuations. That meant uncomfortable showers with sudden bursts of cold or scalding water.

Design and Build Quality

Right out of the box, the G-Sunny faucet looked and felt like a huge upgrade. The brushed nickel finish is sleek and modern, and the all-metal construction gives it a solid, durable feel.

Concerns About Markings and Branding

One of my concerns before ordering was that the faucet might have “G-Sunny” stamped across the frame, like in some of the product photos. Thankfully, it doesn’t. The markings are simple, easy to read, and look like they’ll last without fading.

Beyond this faucet, G-Sunny makes a full line of RV products that feature all-metal construction. It’s clear they focus on durability and quality, which is something we really appreciate as full-time RVers.

Installation – A Quick DIY Job

Replacing the faucet was easier than I expected. The G-Sunny comes with everything you need—gaskets and mounting nuts. It’s designed for a standard 2-hole, 4-inch RV shower setup, so the swap was straightforward. From start to finish, the job took less than an hour and didn’t require a plumber or extra hardware store runs.

Tools You’ll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Plumber’s tape (optional, depending on your setup)

Step-by-Step Installation Process

  1. Turn Off the Water Supply
Shut off your RV’s water system and relieve any pressure by opening another faucet.
  2. Remove the Old Faucet
Our factory faucet was attached to a faucet bezel. We simply removed the screws, disconnected the hot and cold lines, and pulled the old unit out.
  3. Clean the Mounting Area
Wipe down the shower wall and check the openings. This is a good chance to clear away any buildup from the old faucet.
  4. Install the New Faucet
Slide the G-Sunny faucet into place, line up the holes, and secure it with the included screws. The hardware kit had everything we needed.
  5. Reconnect the Water Lines
The fittings in our RV didn’t require plumber’s tape—the compression-style connections sealed up fine as-is. We hand-tightened them and then snugged them up gently with a wrench.
  6. Test for Leaks
Turn the water supply back on and run the shower. Check both the hot and cold connections and the hose fitting for leaks. Ours sealed up perfectly on the first try.
  7. Reinstall the Bezel
Reinstall the four screws for the bezel, and you’re back in business.

The whole process took less than 20 minutes, and the result was a professional-looking upgrade anyone could do.

Another nice feature is that the hose attachment can be installed either facing up or down, depending on your RV’s shower hose connection. That flexibility makes installation perfect, no matter your configuration.

To finish things off, we paired the new faucet with the AquaDance High Pressure 6-Setting Full Brushed Nickel Handheld Shower Head with Stainless Steel Hose. While it’s still made of plastic, it looks great, functions well, and matches the brushed nickel style of the faucet.

Performance in Daily Use

Water Temperature Control with a Tankless Heater

The biggest improvement has been with our tankless water heater. Instead of running full hot just to keep it steady, we can now mix in cold water and still enjoy a consistent, comfortable shower. No more sudden icy blasts or scalding surprises.

Smoothness and Precision of Controls

The controls are smoother and more precise, making it easy to dial in the perfect temperature every time. It feels like a real residential faucet instead of an RV compromise.

Why This Upgrade Matters for Full-Time RVers

Comfort on the Road

When you live in your RV full-time, the little things matter. A reliable, comfortable shower makes a big difference in your daily routine.

Small Upgrades That Make a Big Difference

This faucet is proof that small, affordable upgrades can greatly improve the quality of life in an RV. It’s not just about looks — it’s about functionality and comfort. Pairing this faucet with upgrades like the Dispenser IV wall-mounted soap dispenser has really made our bathroom feel more functional and home-like.

Final Thoughts – Is the G-Sunny Faucet Worth It?

Absolutely. The G-Sunny All-Metal RV Shower Faucet is durable, stylish, and performs far better than the factory plastic it replaced. For us, it solved long-standing frustrations with our tankless water heater and added a touch of style to our bathroom.

If you’re still showering with the stock plastic faucet, upgrading to an all-metal replacement like this is absolutely worth it.
